In photography, what is understood as reality becomes visible. Photographs construct forms of an assumed truth of the visible. They lead to an understanding of what can be grasped as reality and as visual truth at certain times and in certain contexts.

Photography explores the conditions, but also the limits of the understanding of reality.
On the one hand, it confirms ideas, on the other hand, it also questions them.

In my work “Unseen Poems” I attempt to make the invisible visible in a photographic way. While classical photography usually deals with the depiction of the visible, in this work I am interested in the possibility of creating something that refers neither to its origin nor to the end of the imagined process. A kind of abstract reality, landscapes of subconsciousness.
I am not interested in depicting the familiar reality, but rather in forming a new one.

I use my camera as a kind of “brush” with which I photograph a previously staged light object. Through the long exposure and the movement of the camera around the object, the light paintings presented in my work – “Our Poems” – are created.
They show what is normally hidden from the human eye.

Unseen Poems

Fotografie macht sichtbar, was wir als Realität begreifen. Doch was bedeutet „sichtbar“? Fotografien erschaffen eine Illusion von Wahrheit, ein Fragment dessen, was wir in einem bestimmten Moment für wirklich halten. Sie bestätigen unsere Wahrnehmung – und hinterfragen sie zugleich.

Mit meiner Serie Unseen Poems gehe ich über das Offensichtliche hinaus. Statt das Sichtbare abzubilden, suche ich nach Möglichkeiten, das Unsichtbare zu enthüllen – nicht als Dokumentation, sondern als eigenständige Wirklichkeit. Ich erschaffe eine abstrakte Realität, visuelle Landschaften des Unterbewusstseins, die sich jeder eindeutigen Zuordnung entziehen.

Meine Kamera wird zum Pinsel, das Licht zum Material. Indem ich inszenierte Lichtobjekte mit langen Belichtungen und einer geführten Bewegung umkreise, entstehen flüchtige Spuren, Verdichtungen und Rhythmen – Lichtbilder, die sich zwischen Zeit und Raum auflösen. Our Poems zeigen, was dem Auge sonst verborgen bleibt: eine Poesie des Lichts, jenseits des Sichtbaren.
